Being overseas for the last 9 years, I've not been able to watch the awards shows (without staying up until the wee hours). I'd forgotten how much I love them.
Who else thought Mila Kunis rocked it? I thought she was spectacular...looked like a young and happier Angelina Jolie. I can't get over how different she looks from her character "Jackie" on "That 70s Show". I got through maybe 2/3s of "The Book of Eli" before I recognized her. Same goes for "The Black Swan".
HATED Scarlett Johansson's dress. Actually that's not fair. It was a lovely dress but was toooooo nude for her complextion.
Wasn't sure about Olivia Wilde's dress but I did love her hair...she nailed the big bangs whereas Sandra Bullock did not. And speaking of Sandy...what was up with that dress???? I'd almost prefer she'd come in jeans and a sweater.
Catherine Zeta Jones was lovely but she always is...and Halle Berry? Can you say "predictable"? You can count on her to ALWAYS wear a tight bodice and show a lot of arms. Yes, it's great that she looks so good at her age (and after a kid) but come on...try something new, please.
And Helena Bonham Carter...I love her, I really, really do. Not everyone can wear Vivienne Westwood. And apparently neither can Helena. But I have to say her makeup was flawless.
Amy Adams was much more pulled together than I thought she would be. I did love the blue dress on her. Wasn't crazy about the hair though.
I'm not even going to discuss January Jones.
Eva Longoria....snore....
Clair Danes...beautiful and so sweet. I loved her speech. Same goes for Natalie Portman. I give preggers a lot of latitude when it comes to dresses. Yes, she could have done a really lovely empire waisted item...but she's pregnant. Good speech too...what a doll.
Jennifer Love Hewitt...such a beautiful girl and she cannot dress or do her hair.
When is Christina Aguilera going to get a freaking clue? Am I the only person that thinks she's gone to hell in a handbasket since the look she had when she did "Genie in a Bottle"?
I don't know what Tilda Swinton is...
Nicole...enough with the botox already. Her face looked smoother than her Prada. Normally I would say one can't go wrong with Prada...but it was so lackluster.
Helen Mirren...again, looked her age and rocked. Whoever is styling her needs to be on retainer.
My favorite TV show did well...Kaley Cuoco looked great in one of the few nice nude dresses of the night...and Jim Parsons was adorable.
Biggest surprise? Typically tired and worn out looking Melissa Leo. She looked gorgeous and gave a great speech. Whoda thunk she's not as blah looking in real life as her characters on the TV show "Homicide" and in the movie "The Fighter"?
With the exception of Michael Douglas, Chris Colfer, and Colin Firth (and Jim Parsons), none of the men stood out. But is the night really for anyone other than the women????
Some of the blogs I've read said green was the color of the night...but not to expect the same at the Oscars. Some are predicting white, black, and red will standout...BORING!!!
