Imagine How His Wife Felt

Dateline NBC covered this story the other night: "Military commander charged in slayings of two women."  In a nutshell, a Canadian Air Force Colonel (Wing Commander at Canada's largest AF base), broke into houses, photographed himself in the female occupants' lingerie...he then escalated to breaking in and tying the occupants up and photographing them in suggestive poses.  From there he moved to rape and murder.  He's been convicted of raping and killing two women, one of whom served with him.  Below is a picture of him on the base (he's at the far right of the picture).

Amazing story.  All I could think about was what if something like this happened at a US Air Base, say Ramstein, where Derron and I were stationed for 9 years.  The impact to morale would have been significant.  I cannot even imagine how a wing comes back from something like that?

Later, talking about it with Derron, I joked...if you have anything like this in your closet...keep it there or make sure I'm dead before it becomes known.  Can you imagine his wife's shock?  The story of course was run on all the Canadian networks and in the news...the papers even printed pictures of him in lady's lingerie.  Imagine the horror. 

Imagine what those two women went through...one he discarded along the road like a bag of trash then went to base and carried on as if there was nothing wrong.  Friends had no idea, subordinates and superiors alike thought the best of him.  One friend and his wife commented about his anal retentive nature...see, see...clean freaks are hiding something!
