I had a mini breakdown yesterday. Some friends in Germany sent me some beautiful tapestry pillows adorned with Fleur de Lys. I was so touched by the gift and their card.
I miss my friends there so very much. It's hard to understand just how close you get to people in the military despite the fact that they are always moving on. It's as if you know they'll be gone soon so you connect more quickly than you would in any other situation with anyone else.
So I broke down a little and cried. Hazel helped me feel a little better. There's nothing better than crying into a dog's fur. Very forgiving.
Anyway...after a brief crying jag I started writing. I'm working on some short stories about a dog...based loosely on Hazel's life and how I imagine her hopes and dreams. May sound silly but it's helping me get through.
I'll post some of it here from time to time. The target audience is children, specifically children with fears that only a warm fuzzy puppy can help calm.
